This adorable family was super gracious unto me. You see, I arrived at the Plains Art Museum for our photoshoot ready to go. We headed upstairs to start. These three handsome little boys were getting ready to have some fun! I was ready to have some fun! Mom was excited about this, I could tell. So, naturally, I did what every good photographer does and I pulled my camera out of my bag.
It was then that I noticed something was a little off a little out of the ordinary. My camera seemed significantly lighter than normal......and really this could only mean one thing.......dun,dun,dun. My amazing, wonderful, juice-giving battery was nestled, snuggly at home on my charger. About 20 minutes away from our location!!!
And I know all you pro-photogs out there reading my blog are shaking your finger at me saying"shame on you for not carrying a back-up!" Yes, this is true and is now placed smack at the top of my Christmas Wish-list....
So, I took a deep breath and walked over to mom and explained my horendous, monstrous mistake. I apologized profusely and offered to
So, off I went. But.. I knew we would still potentially run into problems. Because there were there very handsome boys up there who needed individual shots, group shots, family shots, fun shots, silly shots, sad shots, whatever shots. And if it takes me 20 minutes to get home, it will surely take me 20 minutes to get back! Gulp- that's 40 minutes of my precious session time. Time that I need to create a beautiful story. And typically we (photogs) are only allowed to book for an hour at a time.
So, I did the only thing I could think of next and that was to call the booking lady at the museum. Who has been nothing but sweet and kind to me since I have been shooting at the museum. So I thought it was worth a shot to see if I couldn't get like a few extra minutes after my booked time was over. But...I sortof thought this might not be possible. But I tried anyway. And wouldn't you know it, my booking lady looked on her books and said for some really odd,super-duper strange reason, I had been booked in their for 2 hours-which they DONT do by the way- and she said I would be just fine for time. So I flew back to our session and we had plenty of time to capture all kinds of fun and laughter and happiness that goes along with being a super-cool family of three super-cool little dudes. (actually, i think the oldest dude of the three boys was taller than me so I guess I shouldn't say little)
Moral of the story: If it hadn't been for this super-gracious family, and God's intervention on the booking time....I would not have captured these....
So...
THANK YOU adorable family for being gracious and not making me feel like a loser or walking out on me.
THANK YOU Lord for always rescuing me from my silly situations.
More to come soon....

LOVE these, love the story, love our gracious Heavenly Father that always goes ahead to prepare the way for us!
Shannon...I have totally done the same thing...and also thought I was going to die...I also forgot my memory card once. Luckily these were all with repeat clients and understanding folks. It is a really yucky feeling. Keep up the good work. You have an interesting perspective.

Thanks ladies! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has done this. Athough, I will be getting that back-up battery soon!
