Alas the time has arrived where I have found the time to edit and now post my little Beckett's first photoshoot by his happy mommy photos. I don't know what can make a mom, or any person happier than looking at photos of a newborn. There's nothing. Notta. Zip. This is it. Happiness just lives here. At this very blog post. And in my arms. Cuz I'm lucky. Dang lucky. Now, go enjoy you some mostly sleepy newborn awesomeness. By his mommy.

Update on MiraBella Photography. At this time, I am not taking any new customers for 2011. While I LOVE LOVE LOVE photographing everyone else's babies and children, my three boys are gonna be it for me for the rest of the year. I have a few sessions previously booked that you might see pop up on here later this summer but for the most part, it will be a boring blog. However, I won't be putting my camera down so please join me over at our family blog: Sweet Little Thing to follow all of our great sword-weilding, monster-fighting, bubble-blowing, park-hopping, adventures that three boys can provide! Never a dull moment at our house, I promise.

In the meantime, I will do my best to share more of my sweet baby goodness photos.

Oh yeah, and I will be trying to convince Beckett that his night-time bedtime does not start at 3am!

My nephew Keenan is growing up waaaaay too fast!!!! And since I hadn't seen him since March, I figured it was time for me to pull my camera on him! This boy is nothing but sweet sweet sweet!
As you can see. :)

P.S. Less than 2 weeks to go for our big due date for Baby #3!!!!! We do not know the sex but we are dying to find out! I will be taking very limited sessions over the summer so be sure to contact me soon to get on my list.

Let's just start this off by saying, "I love winning blog contests!" Big time! One time I won a blog contest with Heidi Smith Photography, who is now my friend by the way....and I'm so lucky for that! But....do you know I was so excited to have won!!! Like..I rarely, RARELY win anything. Especially online. (although...there was this one time....at our after prom party where I won a TV-now that was pretty saaa-weet) But beyond that....really, I RARELY win! Anyway, we had a great session with my now super nice friend, Heidi, and I will always cherish those pictures! You can see those photos HERE.

Ok, so.........because I love winning soooo much........ and I know you all love winning so much ..........and it's 2:45 in the morning(can't sleep-pregnancy brain)...... and I don't know which online picker thingy to pick...................and there were just three of you who applied to the contest.............guess what!!!

Ok..first though....let's have a picture. Because what is a post without a picture! Here's me finally being in a few pictures WITH my little loves. Ok.... so let me also just go on record here and say that my children do not behave in this sweet, angelic, we-love-our-mother fashion on command all the time. Really....if you remember the previous post......you will remember and see the evidence that I had JUST stuffed them full of Valentine frosting and sprinkles [evidence of this can be seen on Chase's shirt sleeve]....so they were pretty much putty in my hands...for those 3 seconds anyway.

But, regardless of how I accomplished such a victory. And regardless of the fact that this is a self-portrait, by me, of me. I really, really, like REALLY heart these photos!

Benston came over for a playdate. His mommy is my good friend from our grad program and my past job as a Social Worker. She used to stop by my office every morning on her way up to her floor and we started our days the right way- laughing! She is really funny!

This one is gonna be a long one because I just loved so many of these photos. My oldest brother gets to be the lucky guy to be the husband and father of this completely beautiful family. And I am so lucky to live just a few miles from them and be their sister and auntie.

My boy, Jonah. This kid has the sweetest heart. I love him.

My Lydi-bug. She is always ready to paint toe nails and read her JunieB Jones book with me! She's hilariously funny, this girl.

My sweet Taneah. Her parents answered God's call of adoption for their family, and ever since Sept of 2008 when she came home to all of us, I was in love. I'm forever smitten by this one.

The month of October was a fun month in our family! First, I announced a little news about our ever expanding pumpkin patch!

Next, I dressed Maverick up for the Pet Smart Halloween Pet contest. Of course, what horse is any good without his two cowboy sidekicks? I was certain we would win. Certain. And we sorta did! Except, we arrived 5 minutes after the contest was over. The judge about died when she saw Maverick and his gang. She said, "oh man, why didn't you come for the contest!?". To which I said, that's why I am here honey. And then she told me it was already over. (as a side-note their website said 3-5 and they judged at 4 so I am a little miffed about that.) Anyway, she said we TOTALLY would have won! So, while we didn't technically win, we really sorta did.

However, now that I have tasted victory, I want to hold the ribbon or milk bone or whatever prize you get. So, I figure, in two years, when our newest one is the correct size for those chaps, we will go back and win the title! Next time, instead of 2 sidekicks, Maverick will just have 3! I can taste the victory....or milk bone.....already!

For Halloween weekend, it was off to South Dakota to visit my dearest best friend/cousin and her adorable little family. We had a fabulous weekend which was made complete with a beautiful night of trick or treating!

The afternoon closed in with beautiful blue skies which were perfectly lit by the fading sun.

I love these two little brothers! They are the sweet boys of my friend Liz who owns Resoltuions Photography. Liz is awesome at what she does I was super duper nervous to do her photos! We ended up having a crazy night between our two families and the ba-zillion mosquitos! Aside from alot of face slapping (because of the mosquitos), the light was absolutely beautiful. And I'm just a sucker for good light and cute little boys! Thanks Liz-I had a great time!

I had so much fun photographing this family again. Not only because they are so dang adorable and not only because Melissa is one of my BFF's, but because the three of them together just make something beautiful! And this is one of the reasons I love the art of family photography sooooooo much. Because you put people together who love each other and you tell them to just have fun or whatever and you end up with some seriously amazing, emotionally driven photographs. Perhaps what makes these photographs even more emotional for me is that Melissa is just so beautiful ON THE INSIDE. Probably even more so than on the outside. And that says ALOT because someone called me and commented on the beautiful girl on my blog in the previous post. But let me just tell you a little something about Melissa. At one time, we were having a discussion about helping the homeless. And I explained that I really feel pulled to do this, especially when driving, but I NEVER DARE STOP and roll down my window. Melissa goes on to tell me that when she lived in CA she used to pass the same homeless guy everyday and she decided she would start bringing lunch for him on her way back to work from her lunch break. So she would make him a sandwhich, chips a drink and FRUIT! FRUIT people-she even added fruit. When Melissa does something she goes the extra mile!

I love that girl and I love this family!

This family just oozed of cool. I knew this when they lined up for their first family photo. I was turned the other way doing something with my camera and when I turned around they were standing like this! Straight out of some super cool magazine!So I snapped away.

The big brothers just couldn't stop the cool from emitting.

And this is my favorite layout! This was actually the mom's idea! She told me she wanted to do a large family photo in a wall art and then surround that wall art with close-up individual shots of all the family members! I love that she told me this during our shoot so I could get photos that would work wonderfully for her layout! Love love love it!

Meet Grace. Her mommy owns Cloud 9 Salon and Day Spa and has been our family hair-stylist and friend for years.

Becky and I decided it was time to get some great shots of her daughter Grace to hang in her salon. We met up downtown on a beautiful summer night and had a blast with Gracie's photo shoot!

As you can see, this little girl is no rookie in the "i know how to look adorable" category.

I am in disbelief tonight as I think back on the day I got to be a part of!

Today, the popular ABC show Extreme Home Makeover rolled into Fargo/Moorhead and revealed the family they were going to bless with a new home.

As if that isn't cool enough in itself, my friend, Heidi, over at Heidi Smith Photography was selected out of a pool of applications to photograph the family for the show!!! Woot woot for my friend!

But it doesn't stop there! Miss Heidi Smith actually asked me to help her out!

So I spent the day with her shooting this unbelievably deserving family during the beginning process of the Extreme Home Makeover show. I still am in awe that I got to witness and be a tiny part of this! This family is amazing! I can't wait to see the new home! Thank you, thank you, thank you Heidi!

I hope to be able to share images some day down the road after the show airs (mid-Nov through Mid Dec possibly).
In the meantime, I will share more lovely Minneapolis wedding photos. Just a few. Enjoy!

This family continues to blow me away! I was lucky enough to photograph them last year for their fall pictures. Right when I met them I knew it was going to be a great session. The parents just beamed the entire time, watching their children interact. And I beamed watching them beam.

This time around, we met up to photograph their newest member, Hudson, for his 6 month-ish pictures. When
we started out to our location I asked them what they were looking for this time. Mom said, "we just want you
to photograph us being together".

And THAT, my friends, is music to my ears! It's sort of like giving me the corner piece of an overly
frosted birthday cake, with an extra dollup of frosting. One the side. I love frosting! And I love how this momma
was speaking my language! Photography style.

So, that's just what I did. I really love them all but my favorite favorites are the 1st and last. Have at em and have yourself
a wonderful week.

It seems as though I am surrounded by boys. I've got my two little boys. I've got my boy dog. I've got my boy husband. I've got two big boy brothers. And lately, I've been on a string of photographing boys.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my little boys. I love my boy dog. I love my boy husband. I love my boy brothers and I so love photographing all those little boys around Fargo/Moorhead.

But....every once in a while...a girl needs some PINK in her life.

And the Lord must have known my thoughts on this and provided me with some downright beautiful girls to photograph.

Check out this little sweet pea and her little doll too. See...can you see why I was missing pink?

About a week later, I was so fortunate to photograph this beautiful young lady and capture her spirit just before she enters the doors to her high school career.

I love how these photos captured the beautiful truth within this couple. These two are truly beautiful inside and out. Their love is so much fun to watch. I was on a roller coaster of laughing and tearing up with emotion the entire session! They probably thought I was crazy but I just adore how he makes her smile. See......

And this is the cutest. They had matching cookie monster dudes growing up. And what else says "we were made for each other"

Lately I've been photographing a lot of boys and specifically little brothers. These two were similar in age to my little dudes and I loved watching their unique personalities. To me, there is just something magical about two little brothers.

For me, photography is not about that trendy poses or cool clothes.What really gets me excited is raw emotion, real connections and beautiful moments. I like to sorta sit back and wait for it. Wait for that look or that tender moment. Wait for an interaction that totally paints the picture for who this child and his or her family is. I just love love love love love love that!!!!!!! So much.

Apparently, I am now a commercial magazine photographer because I swear this family just walked out of a JCrew Magazine. Or whatever the coolest fashion magazine is these days. I wouldn't know. Trust me. I don't excel in fashion and my clothes are always stained with food and boogers-compliments of my two little booger boys.

Anyway, back to the session- so really now, how cool is this family?!!!!

So the smart parents promised this to the boys if they did a good job during our session. Mmmm. So naturally, I invited myself along because I knew that smeared ice cream on big cheeks is really cute.

And, this picture might just be my favorite. I think this is what photographers dreams are made of! Thanks for making that face little Brody-man! I know your mommy is gonna love this one!

We had a great time spending the 4th of July in my husband's hometown. It really was everything America to me. Parades and and picnics and fireworks and kids and happiness. The hometown parade was quite a delight. The kids were out in full-force, ready to nab their candy.

Speaking of kids......

Does anyone know who's kid this is? Uh yeah...he's not mine. I swear. My kids ~~almost always~~ never have crackers strewn all over their face and shooting out their noses.... ~~almost always~~ never. Not mine.

I love kids in front of firetrucks. Even if they are pouting.

I love big beautiful horses, marching in a parade.

I love our Freedom.

I love everything adorable.

And sweet.

And precious.

I love seeing my hubby on a float looking for and spotting his boys.

And for some odd reason, Maverick wound up kissing a patriotic clown?

And here's the goofball again. Hammin it up as usual.

Later that day, we hung out in my in-laws back yard on a beautiful Saturday evening.

Maverick........I'm sure he is licking his chops because he just stole someones watermelon.

Happy (late) 4th of July everyone! What a great weekend it was to celebrate our FREEDOM!I hope you all enjoyed the sounds of slurping watermelon, marching bands and fireworks as much as we did! I have boat-loads of pictures to share, as always. However, I made you a promise last week that I would tell you more about this.

So, I'm here to make good on my promise.

It was our first camping trip of the summer. And we were excited!

Until we hit our first bump in the road. Maverick was none to pleased with us as you can see.

Several hours and 4 brand-spankin- new tires later....we made it. To enjoy our awesome lake-side cabins.

Being with my family and friends, a lake-side view and these two things make me pretty happy.

Along with all of this.

Two of my dudes. Being dorks. On a canoe. Naturally.

These are my four boys. And I love them all to pieces.

My sweet little niece Ramona was the easiest subject I've ever shot. She literally just sat there and smiled for miles and miles. Even though it was pouring rain all around us, she didn't care.

We just whisked her into a picnic shelter and had a little party of smiles. See....

The only way I could get a remotely non-smiling picture was to take a picture of her toes. And she got herself some cute toes.

And this is her with her two cousins that I lovingly refer to as "double-trouble".

I think I need help. I'm addicted to editing photos. Like I get them all done and then I have to go back and do more because I just can't stand to let them go. Normally, I offer between 20-30 images in a gallery. However, I think my galleries get up into the 40s and 50s sometimes. I just can't stand the adorableness of these families so I have to show you photos, photos and more photos. And I don't think this is a good business practice either because then you all get way too many option and you get overwhelmed by it all. I know, I'm sorry I overwhelmed you with cuteness.

I'm sorry. Really I am. But not really because look at those peepers!

And this, my friends, is why I pick up my camera every day. Hoping to get "that perfect shot". And by perfect I don't mean everyone's hair is in place and looking at the camera. I mean this is a real family with a real story and it looks like a pretty darn amazing story about love if you ask me. Now that is why I pick up camera.

I totally loved this session too! You guys have to stop doing this to me! Pretty soon I'm going to be trying to

come over to your houses and hang out just because you are so cool and your kids are that darn cute!

summer colors to contrast beautifully with the awesome green summertime grass.

Squeezably Sweet -Fargo Natural Light Baby Photographer

My littlest boo turned 10 months last week. Here are some of his 9 month pics that he so kindly allowed me to take. He's so squeezably sweet........

For this first series, I threw him up on the bump out window seat in my bedroom and
used the natural light from the big window in my room. I was squatting up on the window seat balancing one leg out beside him in case he decided to dive off the window seat! Luckily, he happened to be very intersted in my camera so I got some nice close-ups. As a bonus, neither of us fell off the window seat!

This next series is my current favorite! We were on a family outing for ice cream so Chase was all happied up after having his first taste of summertime yumminess. The evening sunlight was georgous and made this a beautiful spot for a photoshoot!

I love these pictures. And I love my boo, Chaseroo.

So far, in your almost 5 years as our boy, you have managed to score yourself the following:

1. a baker's dozen of lovely confetti cupcakes straight off the cooling rack

( i was the baker by the way)

2. 287 sneaky bites of Leighton's toast

3. a 1/2 full TIN, lidded container of baby formula

(yes, I said lidded, meaning sealed-ask me for pictures of that one)

4. a couple of slabs of thawed/uncooked chicken while I was starting the grill

5. a mind-numbing number of pizza slices left on the pizza stone

6. approximately 103 dirty, pee pee diapers (yes, i know-he's disgusting)

7. an entire box of Leighton's crayola crayons (which made for a colorful yard the next day)

8. an unprecedented number of any type of little toy part, puzzle piece, race track one can imagine.

....Maverick....you and I both know the list goes on and on.

But....

.....in spite of all your naughty misgivings, I happen to think you are one mighty fine lookin dog to have around!

Ohhh, and you are pretty soft to snuggle with too!

I love you big guy- now drop those panties you just stole

from my dirty clothes pile. OR ELSE!!!

Are You Scared to Pound Holes in Your Walls too?

I am super excited to post this video because I was super excited to find it and watch it for myself! Although I love taking pictures I often struggle with how to hang them in my own home. I am just not like those cool people who envision a beautiful layout, throw it up there on the wall and get featured in the local Taste of Home magazine!

It takes me months and months to figure it out. And then when I do figure it out, I'm scared to pound holes in the wall only to find out how crooked I was! It goes on an on from there. In the meantime, my beautiful pictures sit and sit waiting to be displayed. How sad for those pictures. And for the time and money I spent on them!

A Sneak Peak of the Sneak Peak

So Derrick and I are headed out of town for the weekend for a little kid-free getaway and boy am I excited! I will miss my boys to pieces but they will be in good hands with Grandma and Grandpa. In the meantime we will be enjoying a great show downtown, some shopping and much needed relaxing.

So, before we leave. I wanted to share a micro-sneek of the real sneeks that will be coming in the next few weeks. Oh hey, that rhymed! Wow. That's all I can say about the fact that I just typed that. Wow. I must need a vaca!

My next session was for a little man turning One and his big sissy. Wow, were these two photogenic! I had a blast hanging out with them and just adore the little moments I found behind my lens.
